it happens in movies because it happens in real life too. when in crisis, often there is sense of loss of control or autonomy. for most, something that can provide an outlet for such a frustration is one’s appearance. and, while men do too, women broadly tend to have the more intimate relationship with their hair. so: haircut (or hair dye, or both).

Thanks for the slight correction. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I still believe that the “poor/cheap” element is not entirely accurate until further evidence is provided. You yourself point out that it is a matter of cost-benefit analysis, which can be tremendously swayed by land use (noise reduction matters less with lower density) and practical considerations (America is just… really really big).

Thank you for sharing! I would be interested in more up-to-date resources if you have them. Additionally, I still believe that the “poor/cheap” element is not entirely accurate until further evidence is provided. You yourself seem to suggest that it is more related to the sheer size of freeways and interstates that make open-graded mixes cost-ineffective, which I agree with.

  • (CW language, i don’t usually like saying these words so much but i feel it’s relevant and constructive here)

a very important distinction lies between a cheater and a sexually promiscuous single person, or “slut.” anon didn’t acuse her of being a cheater; he said slut. if he meant unloyal he should have said that. if he doesn’t know the difference, he needs to learn.

  • anon was almost fine till the slut shaming bit. it’s totally valid to have boundaries around smoking and alcohol, especially underage where those are significantly notable red flags.

even rationalizing one’s feelings is a pretty healthy thing to do. far better to acknowledge that the pretty girl had flaws than to pedastal her and pine after an idealized version of her for the rest of his life because that’s just a recipe for depression and self hate.

that said, her sexual history was none of anon’s business, and the fact that he doesn’t even seem sure about it while being willing to judge her character over it speaks volumes.

i hope anon is doing alright and has learned confidence in himself. also hope his relationship with women’s sexuality can improve cuz yikes.

  • Thanks for sharing!

I personally believe it is actually better to acknowledge that the task is simple because that allows for the acknowledgment that the task of eating can be physically uncomfortable.

This changes my perspective. Thanks :)

I guess I came at it from a perspective of, a lot of the time when I see people say “it’s simple” they continue that paragraph by encouraging essentially eating disordered behavior (it’s happening elsewhere in this comment section right now). While your comment is excellent, I also fear for those who see “it should be simple” and choose the simplest and most dangerous of options, e.g. starvation diet or just pounding pints of ice cream and ceasing physical activity.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing your understanding of this all. You are 100% in the right, I have just also seen firsthand how the internet can really amplify ED in already struggling individuals, so I try to keep an eye out.
