Sure they can, with cookies or tracking pixels for example.
Ha yes, I forgot about the local music — me too.
I started using Twitter mostly to follow journalists and scientists, as you say. There are actually quite a few of them on Mastodon, so it scratches that itch for me. I haven’t logged in to Twitter for about a year and a half now. I find Reddit is the harder one to quit, simply because Lemmy hasn’t quite reached that critical mass. I still use both every day. I suppose Twitter was also easier to quit because it’s mostly Nazis now.
Me 2 years ago: Windows, Reddit, Twitter, Gmail
Me now: Linux, Lemmy, Mastodon, Proton
The pipeline is real. No programming socks so far, though.
This is what Firefox containers are for. Put the predatory sites in a container so they can’t see out of it.
I’m in Canada and use Linux full-time without any such problems whatsoever. On rare occasions I use Edge instead of Firefox, and that’s it.
There is (was?) a group writing a whole Linux-esque OS in Rust: https://github.com/nuta/kerla
I don’t see anything different… How did you access it?
This does seem like a Tobi ideological thing, doesn’t it? Ugh.
I wonder what’s in it for Shopify. This seems like an odd thing for them to sponsor, or a very expensive FU to Google.
Just buy Google ads before committing crimes and you’re all set!
Umm ackshually it isn’t in real-time, it happened 300 million years ago /pedant
I’ll stick to EndeavourOS, thanks
I love Todoist and use it every day, but that may not be the use case you had in mind.
I didn’t know that! Although I don’t pay for SL, I get it as part of my Proton sub.
If you have a paid plan you can generate SimpleLogin aliases directly when generating a login on a webpage. It’s a very nice feature.
Seriously… I would rather not have to pay for Filen on top of my Proton business sub.
Nobody here said it would let them see your authentication details, so I’m not sure why you’re so vigorously fighting that straw man. Third-party cookies absolutely let them know which other sites you’ve visited. That’s their main purpose.
