Done. Thanks for reminding me.
I wasn’t sure where to post it. It looked like this community had a decent number of posts showing off open source projects, so I figured it would fit in.
It seemed like other people were sharing their open source projects here. If it’s against the rules I can post it somewhere else.
People in the Linux community were just having a laugh at Windows users who were unable to remove an icon, then some people were saying how they actually wanted a pride icon on their panel, so I wrote a simple python script and shared it.
Over the past year multiple people have said they liked the little icon in my system tray, so I decided to polish up the project and share it again. I’m not expecting it to change the world, I just thought some people out there might enjoy it.
EDIT: it’s not a random executable, the source code is right there, you can compile it yourself if you like.
It’s an open source project.
You’re free to pick whichever one you prefer.
The progress flag is part of the creative commons, it isn’t exactly ‘closed source’: https://progress.gay/pages/terms-of-use
My money is on the Emu War
Connected to the month of June?
Doesn’t it depend on the war? A lot of good allied soldiers died defeating the Nazis, but a lot of good would-be Nazis also found ways to avoid service.
Every draft dodger in the invading nation is one less soldier you need to defend against.
What are you talking about? In 2023, solar power alone generated 1.63 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity. Twice as much as was generated by coal, and more than half as much as was generated by nuclear. Solar plus wind out performed nuclear by hundreds of gigawatts.
The only thing holding back renewable power is grid level energy storage, and that’s evolving rapidly.
Awesome! Thanks, I didn’t know that.
Love the analogy of visiting Canada as an American to explain how BSD is different from Linux.
Did you read past the headline? They’re restoring add-ons banned by the Russian government, defying Russia.
The Fiat 500e’s battery weighs 295kg.
150km of range usually requires about 200kg of lithium ion batteries. More for larger vehicles.
What’s wrong with charging? At 350KW you can get 150km of range in 5 minutes.
There’s a couple thousand in China for Nio, but they haven’t really taken off anywhere else.
By contrast there’s over 1.8 million public EV chargers in China alone.
Batteries are heavy, which makes them hard to move and requires secure attachment to the vehicle. EV chargers have no moving parts and require much less maintenance.
Swappable batteries are a giant headache, charging is better.
Batteries are lasting longer and longer, LFP are already able to last 20 times as long as typical lithium ion, while using less cobalt.
Modern EV tech is still relatively new. It took combustion cars a long time to get to present day longevity and efficiency. EVs will catch up.
Like people, but with a feduciary responsibility to gain wealth at every opportunity. Corporations are almost like vampires: they don’t need food or water, they don’t age, they have inhuman power, yet they wear the guise of people; they pass as human to make it easier to drain us of our blood, an endless thirst they feel compelled to heed.
Haven’t seen anyone mention Alacritty yet, that’s my favorite terminal emulator.
Thank you!
I just added a feature where you can select whichever icon you want by editing the text file in
.config/prideicon/lastselected
Just make it one line of text with the absolute path to the icon (.png on Linux, .ico on Windows) then restart the program.
