If Reddit pulls these kinds of moves two more times or so, I’m 100% certain Lemmy will have all the niche communities you’d ever want. This place is much better!

I would have at least visited museums and the likes in cities I can’t afford to visit, as well as making food with all the tasty high quality ingredients I can’t afford.

Maybe drive around on some expensive motorbike just to see how it feels. If my financial situation at the time was especially dire, maybe take a “loan” from a bank somewhere before unfreezing time.

You’d have to be a saint to have that power and not do anything illegal. But one thing I would never do is fuck over regular people, only corporations and big businesses. After time unfreezes, those can recover from whatever I did and I doubt I’d but a significant dent in their profit margins, but regular people would have to live with the consequences of what I did, so that’s a no go.

There were 2 online game stores that wouldn’t allow me to register with a protonmail account, AllYouPlay and another one that I can’t recall, which was weird to me

Some sites and services won’t accept accounts with e-mails outside of the mainstream ones though.

As someone who doesn’t know much about China aside from the high competitiveness of their academic environment, I’m curious as to what sort of issues your friends face due to surveillance? Does it affect their day to day lives? Or does it just foster an atmosphere of “be careful what you say”?

I think non-militarized cops, so most non-American ones, are not that bad and are generally more decent people than militarized cops. It’s amazing how much better policing can be when cops don’t carry guns with them all the time

I’d be pretty interesting to have access to age demographics for social media. I assume Reddit leans younger than Lemmy, but I’m in my early 20s and so are a few of my friends, and we use Lemmy a lot more.

I don’t agree. The simple fact that Lemmy is decentralised is a political thing. It’s about who has power over the platform, and that is inherently a political issue. The status-quo of other platforms, that being under the control of a corporation, is also a political stance.

PS: everything is politics, that’s not a good or bad thing, it’s neutral. If you don’t think of something as political, that just means it’s oriented towards the status-quo you are used to.
