fair enough, thanks for the response.
my ‘extra hands’ station w/ the two alligator clips to hold the subject, magnifying glass w/ led also has a holster for a hot iron, so I pop the hot iron in that after soldering.
the wire coming from the iron, whether it goes to a battery pack or the 250 eur smart battery is still the hangup for me. I build large things with nicrocobntrollers in them, so I need to soldier in super awkward places. a wire connecting the iron to anything is a massive liability.
Id be interested to hear how you get on with it though
I love my ifixit precision screwdriver, so I’d be a fan and would try this out.
The thing is once I switched to a butane iron (portable, hot in 20 seconds, awesome fire) I don’t have any interest in anything with a wire coming off of the back of it. battery or no, the wire being in the way is ass and is also crap
edit: maybe it doesnt have a wire?
edit 2: maybe I shoulda read the article before typing? 5 second heat-up time, wow… seeing as I am a fucking idiot and am also very tired, can someone who is smart tell me if the iron has a battery itself? the pack is for recharging the small battery in the pen?
I tip my cap to both of you
no you are not. I will not buy an internet connected anything as long as possible.
I left also, the API thing was the nudge I needed; I admit I’ve gone back for niche things: the fan groups of 2-3 bands and two TV shows. Reddit is their defacto fan forum for lots of things
I’m sorry? I don’t speak freaky-deeky Dutch
I’m not saying what anything in your post is wrong. I would like to add, though, that there’s a housing crisis in Ireland, and I know half a dozen tech workers that can’t afford their own apartment. Just saying.
what you dont know could fill a book I wouldnt put succession on the same tier as sopranos (very little comes close), all I was saying is its not about crazy plot twists, and more about the way the emotionally crippled kids of logan roy cosplay as human beings. I enjoyed it- jeremy strong and brian cox did a great job imo
I guess… a lot of the time it was Landsman eating Arby’s at his desk
its a character study, not a bombastic thriller. Same as the shows most folks rave about: Sopranos, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Arrested Development… its fine to not like anything but I’m not sure why you’d take time to write about how you don’t like anything. Do you find posts about, say, an art heist and post about how you haven’t liked any paintings in a couple centuries
fair enough, and I’m sure you know what you’re doing. I’ve always felt that I’m in a much, much stronger position saying I’m employeed but I’d prefer to work for you rather than them suspecting that I just need some job, any job ya know
anyway, hope you work it out
duuuude get a new job before you quir the old one
I did it because you urged me.
what a dumb future
I didnt say you need to be autistic to like AI, I said the only person I know who is enthusiastic about AI is on the spectrum.
I listed half a dozen things off of the top of my head that are cearly negatives. What good things are coming out of this?
is it?
nearly everyone I speak to about it (other than one friend I have who’s pretty far on the spectrum) concur that no one asked for this. few people want any of it, its consuming vast amounts of energy, is being shoehorned into programs like skype and adobe reader where no one wants it, is very, very soon to become manditory in OS’s like windows, iOS and Android while it threatens election integrity already (mosdt notibly India) and is being used to harass individuals with deepfake porn etc.
the ethics board at openAI got essentially got dispelled and replaced by people interested only in the fastest expansion and rollout possible to beat the competition and maximize their capitol gains…
…also AI “art”, which is essentially taking everything a human has ever made, shredding it into confetti and reconsstructing it in the shape of something resembling the prompt is starting to flood Image search with its grotesque human-mimicing outputs like things with melting, split pupils and 7 fingers…
you’re saying people should be positive about all this?
I’m not sure thats definitely true… my sense is that the AI money/arms race has made them push out new/more as fast as possible so they can be the first and get literally billions of investment capitol
god damn the comments on this post are the fucking wild west
thank you
no way, cool
