People do use decimals in Fahrenheit, mostly when talking about body temperature.
And 98 is not what’s considered normal, though it is within the normal range. Closer to 98.6 is normal.

Sure, but I never see people use two decimal points in real life when using Celsius to describe weather.
Tenths of a degree are more noticeable in Fahrenheit than in Celsius for the same reason.
Fahrenheit is superior to Celsius because it’s more specific and I will die on this hill. 71F feels different than 72F and yet they’re both 22C (for example).
Metric is better than imperial, though. Obviously.
I meant because it does not sync between different devices.
Should have used Signal.
I don’t think you’re being beaten up for it. I certainly am not beating you up for it. But usually, yeah, the screen does come back on during the flight. I think they turn it back on automatically every time there’s an announcement. As somebody who finds screens like that very distracting and even migraine-inducing (the “busyness” of that sort of thing is a big trigger), it’s really frustrating.
It’s exactly why I didn’t pursue translation even though it’s what I really wanted to do. And that was like 15 years ago, when I first did a little translation work. That translation would be taken over by technology was very clear even back then.
“AI is unfit to translate manga so far.”
Have you ever turned a screen off on one of these planes? They turn back on. So you turn them off again. Sooner or later, they turn back on. And repeat.
They also automatically turn the screens back on repeatedly after you turn them off.
Never heard of it.
I know it may sound crazy, but not everyone is driving around with a phone. That’s why you sometimes see updatable signs on highways telling you what AM station to tune into for whatever alert it is they have to issue .
You’re right that AM is mostly used by right-wing hatemongers in the US, but they will always find something else. It’s not the platform that’s the problem.
It’s a bit funny to me that this move is coming from Japan. It’s been a little more than a decade now, but I used to live in Japan, and good radio stations playing music were all over AM radio when I was there. Maybe it’s regional.
It’s true that it’s largely used for spouting hate in the US. It is also used by transportation departments to share travel warnings, but I doubt that gets a whole lot of usage under normal circumstances.
If AM goes away, the hatemongers will just find another platform.
Other way around. Lobbyists for the auto industry want to get rid of AM to save themselves money, but AM is more reliable than FM for emergency alerts (further range, can penetrate buildings).
omg, I actually chuckled. I basically never do that to memes.
My last Google Pixel barely touched water and that was the end of that. Meanwhile, I remember a friend literally dropping his flip phone into a glass of beer (intentionally to show off its waterproofness) nearly two decades ago and it being perfectly fine after he took it out.
I don’t have a point, I’m just still bitter about the Pixel. I wish more companies would make smaller phones.
Shhhh, just recognize yourself for the comedic genius that you are.
I’m going to guess a big part of the reason that older women spread misinformation more than older men do is that women are more chronically online at that age as opposed to trying to be active and out of the house, and/or less likely to be employed and therefore have a lot of time on their hands with no kids to take care of now that they’re all grown up.
I’ve started building mine up again, too, because too often a movie I want to watch isn’t available to stream and purchasing a physical copy costs less than a digital copy.
