  • I was at a bar (with a partner at the time, who was on the dance floor) and a girl came up to me and started a conversation about her college classes and her puppetry. I though it was cool! We had a good conversation and the girl’s sister eventually pulled her away. My then partner came up and told me she was totally interested. I was like “Her? Nah, we were just talking about some cool hobby stuff!” She was totally into me apparently.

Note: My partner was not upset, she was a very sexually progressive person and even suggested I get her number. I’m a one person kinda lad though.

  • Hey-oh, I just wanted to say that it isn’t unreasonable for someone to take care of someone they like when they are ill in a case like this. I’m sure having a crush may have incentivise helping her but I have also stuck around and helped friends with partners in situations like that too, both men and women, and not called their SO. While hindsight may be “call the partner” 1: That’s not always possible, it really depends on circumstances (maybe partner is drinking with others? Or is on a trip, etc.). And 2: It’s quite reasonable to feel better to stay and help the person rather than wait and/or just leave it to someone else since you are present and others are not.

Brownie points or not, it seems like the intent wasn’t to take advantage of the situation but help a person who was in a bad state. And yeah, probably because they liked them. So just leaving someone, whether you have a crush or not, in a miserable state (see: Throwing up) kinda seems like an ass move.

The rest of the interaction I have no comment on. End result is OP leaving after they were in a good enough state to be left that way (Not gonna be throwing up anymore)

  • I work for a well known (international) business in the USA that used to be known for it’s good benefits. Man are they ass now. 14 days a yr, 21 after 5 years, and could work your way up to 6 weeks at 30yrs. no lunch break, no pension, and some expensive health insurance that covers nothing. Now it used to be 21 starting 28 after 5 yrs, a pension and a lunch break, with some impressive healthcare. And they took away the upper limit of vacation you could get to be 4? IIRC After 30 years. (So 1 extra week after 5 years, then one more after another 25).

The pay is fine but no nearly what it used to be. It used to be $10+ over the competition, now it’s barely $1. They are hurting to hire because of it too

  • I’ve predominantly used a credit union my whole adult life. The one I use is smaller so loans and such have a higher threshold to meet. It also means that the interest rates are negligible on my accounts (0.01%), however I’ve also never really had any issues with them, their service, or locations. I’ve never had to deal with any fees, or transaction disputes.

There is one perk that I wish they had that you’ll really only find at the big banks: international free ATM withdrawal. While niche, if you travel a lot it might be worth it to set up an account with a bigger bank that supports that, even if the account is only used for travel.
