This is more apt than the russian version of this meme because Israel literally builds wall bubbles like this in the west bank

Worse than the settlements are the fenced roads going to the settlements.

They build a settlement 20 miles from you but the road crosses your land? Well now you’ve got to travel 40 miles to get to the other side of your field 100 yards away.

What’s that? They built another settlement on the other side of your land, and then built a road between the 2 settlements? Now you’re surrounded by roads with fences you can’t cross.

I mean before the invasion Russia was building walls and moving them forward overnight to slowly take territory. It’s not entirely off base about Russia.

Nato is a group of independant, mostly democratic states. Nato generally doesn’t kill people, because it doesn’t attack, does not do genocide and most relevant for the meme, it doesn’t redraw state lines.

If Nato would do several of those things, you might have a point, please prove me wrong.

Also the second pic is ridiculous. What even do the Nato-emblems mean? It cant be singular bases or single memberstates. So what is it? And what about russias allies, why arent they painted/highlited? If one would want to show the big allies, the BRICS+ states could be marked. But like this, the second image is worthless.

NATO killed thousands of people, redrew state lines, and overthrew several governments, in yugoslavia, libya, afghanistan, and north africa.

It’s main enemies (and those of it’s member countries) are the anti-colonialist movement:

The article you posted says that the US is instigating a conflict in Eastern Europe in the very first line. I’m not saying that NATO countries haven’t acted despicably or even evilly in the past, but instigating a conflict in EE is blatantly untrue. I’m going to list the article as “bias favoring Russian imperialist aggression masquerading as anti-US-imperialism”.

Generally, the people posting this sort of thing also support land back or some variant of it, and will be on the side of the indigenous population in any dispute with western colonizers.

I can understand when the topic is comparison, but my experience is that it seems that more often than not, the comparison is made even when not part of the topic. It could be some horrible news of a tragedy that occurred in the US, and rather than discuss the matter at hand, the comments are about how Europe is better. Of course they don’t do that with other countries like Brazil, India, or Mexico. That’s the point of the comment: to point out how ridiculous it would be, especially when a lot of the issues in those countries could be traced back to European colonization. But, since the US is a powerhouse with GDP, military, media, and global political power, everyone thinks it’s okay to shit on it. I’d like to point out that the GDP stays at the top. Arguably, the quality of life of the average EU resident is better than the average American resident. Y’all tell us everyday with your medical systems and healthcare access, workers rights, time off, gun control, etc.

If American culture constantly has a delusional state of superiority, then why are the comments on Lemmy about how the EU is superior? Let’s compare the number of comments on Lemmy in which Americans state or imply their superiority to Europe with vice versa. I bet that ratio will easily surpass 1:10. And the American one will more likely than not be downvoted to hell. Yeah, there are Americans and American media that are delusional about their superiority, but that is not the case with Lemmy users. In general, those are conservatives/Republicans and some moderates. Europe has those clowns too. American users on Lemmy tend to be quite left, desire strong leftist policies, and acknowledge the reality of the situation while being humble af, yet they are the ones that have to read all the shit talking about Americans every day on here. It’s annoying af; that’s all.

edit: Btw, despite that everyone may disagree with me, justifiably or not, I appreciate the opportunity to have this discussion.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be able to defend Israels actions either. So, I’d would have to resort to deflections and cheap whataboutery like you too.

Yup. You guys haven’t stopped colonizing. Neo colonies are a thing even if you don’t like to admit it. It’s funny you don’t want me to judge you by the atrocities of your ancestors, yet you guys still treat my people like savages

…they then left and a whole different bunch of white people turned up to live in the land that had been recently been stolen from the indigenous Americans.

You’d have thought that the indigenous Americans would have tried to take their land back in the time between the Europeans leaving and the Americans turning up but I guess not.
